Covid-19: how is the events sector adapting?
Published on 7 April 2020
Situations like the one we are currently going through bring many transformations and reflections on everyday life and on a country’s economy. The events sector is particularly hit by the health crisis, but it will allow many changes. The post-Covid-19 era will mean rethought events!
How do you keep up good momentum, even remotely?
The health crisis affecting the whole world has pushed everyone to rethink their ways of working. The French quickly showed a desire to adapt as well as possible in order to protect their activity and their jobs. And this is true for every profession! From remote meetings for companies to live concerts on social media for artists, everyone has rethought how they operate to bring out solutions and try to get through the period as well as possible.
While thousands of events are cancelled all over France, some are thinking about how to reverse the phenomenon and create adapted events. Digital has then proved indispensable. Already omnipresent for many years, digital has demonstrated its importance in the events sector over the past few weeks. It has made possible, for example, the creation of a live TV show in the kitchen of a French chef and the multiplication of online fitness classes.
What the events sector will take away from this period
For several weeks, companies have been learning to work remotely and colleagues have been led to step out of their comfort zone and adapt. Remote meetings have become indispensable to ensure the continuity of teams’ work. They are made easier by the emergence of digital tools such as Zoom.
For the events sector, these remote meetings do not herald the end of professional events, quite the contrary. Team meetings are still indispensable and unrivalled! These digital tools can then be used alongside in-person meetings. The By Kadrance Cercles teams are already thinking about solutions to encourage their use in the private mansions so that clients can communicate with participants who could not attend in person.
Live streaming is becoming essential for the events of tomorrow
Live streaming makes it possible to broadcast an event live on the internet (on Facebook Live, LinkedIn Live or Twitch, for example). Its advantages are many: it lets viewers interact with the event in real time (comments, likes…), creates a feeling of closeness with consumers and, above all, makes it possible to broadcast an event on a very large scale, with no limit on participants.

In the Screening Room of the Cercle d’Aumale, it is possible to organise events in front of 150 people (conference, masterclass, screening…), but live streaming allows broadcasting on a larger scale. Many brands have already adopted this method of broadcasting; Apple, for example, uses it for every new product presentation.
Our venue has an adjoining control room and the necessary equipment is made available to our clients who wish to broadcast their event live from the Screening Room.
Event activities can also be digitalised to avoid contact with different people at the event venue. Our partner Playtime, for example, offers a series of innovative online activities.
Many possibilities are therefore emerging in the events sector to make it more accessible despite possible external constraints. Live streaming does not replace events but complements them and gives them greater reach.
The By Kadrance label is already adapting to these new ways of working by equipping its venues with the necessary tools. To set up your future professional events, contact our teams who will guide you in your projects!
