Event essentials in 2019
Published on 1 March 2019
The events sector has its own codes, developments and trends. In general, people are back at the centre of attention and the aim is to create ever stronger links between event organisers and guests. Here are some of the event trends that are becoming essential in 2019:
Shared experience and emotions
Experience has become a flagship concept in events. It is about taking guests into a brand’s world and creating a feeling of belonging and privilege. These new immersive events appeal to guests’ emotions to give them a memorable moment.
Last autumn, the Cercle d’Aumale hosted an event with a bucolic setting: la Maison Saint-Germain. The liqueur brand chose to amaze its guests by immersing them in a magical setting designed by Lola Burstein-Rykiel. Guests could taste cocktails served by mysterious hands emerging from a wall of flowers, explore a life-size maze and wander up a staircase filled with flowers…

By appealing to all five senses to evoke emotions linked to childhood and imagination, the St-Germain brand created a complete experience, leaving guests with the impression that they had left Paris for a fairy-tale world for the duration of their visit.
Personal involvement and collaboration
Activities in which guests are in a “passive” position, receiving information, are now being abandoned in favour of activities where guests are active and are led to act directly. Interactions, whether between colleagues, speakers or influencers, are placed at the heart of new event concepts. You are no longer just a spectator of the event; you take part in it and enrich it!
Team-building activities are certainly the ones that best illustrate this trend. Our venues host extraordinary musical activities. For example, it is possible to invite musicians, but instead of simply letting them play music, they teach each colleague to play a musical instrument so that everyone together can recreate classical pieces such as Bach’s Barcarolle. In this way, people get involved and create together.
A certain return to simplicity and authenticity
Although events are more and more connected and offer ever more innovative technologies, there is a trend towards a return to authenticity for certain services.
This is the case with catering. Guests today are looking for more freshness and simplicity in the food and drink served to them. Offering fresh, local products is now a must.

The craze for healthy and plant-based cuisine is also reflected in events. Guests no longer want overly heavy food and are more tempted by salad bars and flavoured waters. And beware of prejudice: light, vitamin-packed cuisine can also be generous!
With events ever closer to the guests, it is essential to have full support to offer an up-to-date event. Our team of enthusiasts and event experts can give you their best advice to make your event a success.
