Human resources, the cornerstone of events
Published on 18 December 2018
Each year the events sector attracts more young people, notably for its lively, celebratory side. But it would be underestimating the profession to reduce it to that aspect, as it requires many qualities: rigour, creativity, a sense of service and selflessness.
A few years ago, events were learned on the job.
The employer (agency or advertiser) took care of the training, and the field was the best school for learning to manage teams, negotiate with suppliers and ensure the quality and safety of events.
Today, employers want to hire staff who are immediately operational. They therefore turn to young people who have completed courses in communication and business tourism, with a third-year specialisation through work-study, or to hotel management schools. Finally, since last year, young people can be trained in all the event professions at “ LéCOLE, the Event Thinking School ”, whose every new intake is now eagerly awaited by the profession.
The sector is becoming more professional and more competitive
We must all redouble our efforts to create personalised events for clients who are particularly demanding on every aspect of the event: originality of reception venues, exotic destinations, innovative activities, all of which must be consistent with their culture and values.

To meet the challenge of this competition, we need to recruit talent.
We need talent capable of understanding briefs, grasping what is at stake, and meeting clients’ expectations as precisely as possible with a strategic and creative response and perfect command of production and logistics, while respecting the budgets set by clients.
That is why I chose to recruit people who are committed, with a keen sense of service, perfectly organised, highly responsive and also highly available to serve requests of every kind. A degree and technical skills are good, but we must never forget interpersonal skills, which are so valuable in our professions.
Over time, I have put in place a fairly unusual organisation: each of our By Kadrance venues is run like a home.
Management consists of a pair, one with a sales profile and the other oriented towards logistics. The mission is then to give them the tools and processes to work efficiently and maximise their productivity. That way they can welcome our clients with complete peace of mind and in a relaxed manner!
I am by their side every day, with no fixed desk; I sit down next to them for a few hours or a few days depending on needs. I am always there to discuss their issues and find solutions to all their questions.
A manager who is both a trainer and available, and supported, smiling teams: the recipe for impeccable quality of service.
